Former Turkish Ambassador to Libya Uluc Ozulker’s statement that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was in love with the then Turkish Prime Minister Tansu Ciller found a great response in media publications.

Ciller refuted the media reports that Gaddafi gave her presents and stressed the information is untrue, Milliyet daily reports.

In an interview with Turkish Taraf newspaper, the former Turkish Ambassador to Libya Uluc Ozulker said Gaddafi admired Tansu Ciller and considered her a symbol of a Muslim woman. “Ciller is blond, intelligent clever. She spoke English and Gaddafi considered her a symbol of a Muslim woman,” the Ambassador noted.

Ozulker said that Ciller arrived in Libya on November 2, 1994 through his mediation. “Gaddafi was in love with her and the latter was well aware of it. Gaddafi gave her presents…,” the former Ambassador said.

Tansu Ciller was Turkey’s first female Prime Minister in 1993-1995.
